We live in a magnificent country! Heather & Ryan – what a special sneak peek for you two gorgeous Lovebirds :-D

I adore the colours of fynbos – even in winter… Clarissa and Rainer had fate smiling on them with their gorgeous sunny wedding in a week filled with freezing rain. I love this sun filled shot of them in the grasses – so much love!!

Winter has been so long, but I really can’t moan when it means I get to shoot engagement sessions like this! It’s all about textures, browns, yellows, leather, wool, rocks and fynbos… with a little bit of happy love thrown in :-) Sam and Malcolm braved icy Cape winds for this shoot on top of the world. The views from the top of Newton Johnson’s wine farm in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley near Hermanus are breathtaking enough to make you realise why this area is called Heaven-and-Earth!

Here’s a small sneak peek from Sam and Malcolm’s gorgeous Lovebirds engagement shoot in the heart of the Hermanus fynbos :-)

This shoot is the reason I adore engagement shoots – it gave us time to get to know each other and feel relaxed in front of the camera before the big day but most of all to get a bit creative and have loads of FUN! Lika and Freddie are just the most gorgeous couple and don’t need much prompting on the fun side :-D Young and in love, it’s just a classic romance playing out right in front of you… happy sigh… These photos in the woods are such a great beginning to their wedding story and I can’t wait for their beautiful farm wedding in March!

Beautiful girl + beautiful boy + beautiful woodlands = where the magic happens! The rest of the beautiful photos coming soon!

I love winter shoots – provided it’s not raining – the light is so low and has such a cool and gentle quality to it. And the light is everything to a beautiful shot. When we finally met up for Clarissa and Rainer’s Lovebirds engagement shoot (yes rain, no rain, yes rain, no rain) the light was a perfect glow off the beach. I really need to use the word ‘suffusion’ here! So off we set, some happy lovebirds and a happy camera to spend the rest of the afternoon making happy photos :-) Clarissa and Rainer, I can’t wait for your stunning Rockhaven wedding and I’m already holding thumbs for more of this gorgeous light for you!

This is absolutely one of my favourite couple shoots of all time :-)

Olivia and Craig decided that instead of having a photographer to document their whole wedding, they would take a different approach completely and we would just do the couple shoot together. By 1 pm on the day of their wedding it was as dark as dusk and when we met up for the photo session after the ceremony it had been raining non-stop for the last 4 hours. These are the times when you start to think twice about taking your gorgeous couple through barbed wire fences, over rubble and off-road terrain in their wedding shoes and into abandoned ruins for the only professional photos they are going to have of their wedding day, but I had a vision for this shoot and Olivia and Craig were up for something different! I’m just thrilled with how these turned out and days like this really affirm for me that this ‘job’ is not a job at all but a real deep seated passion. Enjoy!

I am just going to warn you now – this is a pretty huge post! What a wedding Sandy and Kevin had! If I was going to describe it with one word I’d use RAIN! But that really is too simplistic – their day was full to the brim with so much family, happy busyness and lots and lots of love! Friends flew in from all over the world to celebrate their momentous wedding and Kevin and Sandy’s exquisite wine farm South Hill in Elgin couldn’t have been a more perfect venue – even in the rain! Emma and Gordon from ‘Gordon Manuel @the Venue‘ managed to pull off wonders with their incredible and frankly super-human powers of organisation in the most trying conditions – and of course Gordon’s food… what can I say except cuisine of the Gods – not to sound too dramatic about it :-D . The lovely flowers, decor and cakes were done by Sandy and family with special mention to Sandy’s mom for the exquisite wedding cake. Sandy and Kevin, your loved ones said it again and again on the day – you two are so perfect for each other and I hope this was a day to remember for you both. Enjoy the photos…
