There is only one word to describe Suzi and Steve’s wedding perfectly… EPIC!! Think a bevy of Scotsmen in full regalia, a breathtaking Grecian style creation of a wedding dress, a flurry of cherubic flower girls… Think a dazzling array of exquisite Fleur le Cordeur floral creations, meters of a gorgeous, candlelit layed tables, Le Franschhoek Hotel’s views over the mountains at sunset… Think a custom designed and installed nightclub, oysters, a marimba band and magician to entertain the guests… All this perfectly put together by the amazing team at Wedding Concepts with a vision to make Suzi and Steve’s day unforgettable. This gorgeous couple became a new family on this day and sumptuous surroundings and details aside, it was so clear to see their joy. That is really what’s epic. It’s what makes me so grateful that I get to do this wonderful job. Uncountable thanks go to my official second shooter for the day Kristi Agier – thank you for helping me tell their story – and trusty right hand gal Illyan Cloete for assisting like a pro! I would not have made it without you girls :-D Suzi and Steve, thank you so much for choosing me to be there with you… To see more photos for their two pre-events have a peek here.

I love how each wedding has it’s own wonderful vibe. When Lauren and I met up beforehand to chat about their Lanzerac wedding the words that kept coming up were ‘classic’, ‘traditional’ and ‘elegant’. I relish a challenge ;-) and worked throughout the day to keep a formal and timeless backbone to the photo compositions. Lauren and Anwar, I hope you love the pictures that tell the story of your beautiful day. What a delight you two were!! Good luck in all your jet-setting endeavours and send US some photos! :-D p.s Formal and timeless were thrown out the window for the dancing shots – hahaaa! Want to see more antics? Have a peek at the photo booth pics here on Facebook :-)

Well Happy New Year to everyone out there reading my little blog and I wish for you the most uplifting and intriguing 2013!! To kick start the year why not head over to the lovely Pretty Blog to have a peek at the Food Fox’s celebration of a pudding here – little jewel berries in sumptuously wobbly golden jellies – that has to make you smile!

Carika and Ruan’s Kleinevalleij wedding was the prettiest wedding I’ve shot this year – in the most classic sense of the word! Blushing pastels, an abundance of soft flowers, twinkling chandeliers and a candy pink cadillac! Oh happy day!! These two are something special together – in her speech Carika talked about it taking some time to find each other, but I reckon it was worth the wait! Carika and Ruan, what an honour it was to share your wedding day with you – a real joy!! Everything was put together perfectly by the multi-skilled team at Kraak (well done Maudre!).  Please take some time to check out the websites of the other talented contributors to this beautiful day at the bottom of the post.

Considering the unpredictable weather we’ve been having Lieria and Louis couldn’t have chosen a luckier day for their gorgeous wedding at Morgenhof in Stellenbosch! We started off shooting at Louis’ parents home where all the guys were recovering hanging out together, getting ready for the rest of the big day ;-) Then on to the stunning Bonne Esperance Guest House with the girls – what a crazy fun bunch of lovely girls!! They were whisked away to the ceremony in a Rolls Royce (nice!) and so began the beautiful wedding story… (p.s Finding that lego piece in Louis’ room with the sticker that exactly matched the design of Lieria’s wedding ring makes that photo one of my favourites of all time! Yes, I love the quirky details :-D ) Assisted by right hand gal Illyan Cloete.

Oh my word, what a phenomenally F-U-N wedding this was!!! Natasha, Hessam and entourage sure know how to parté :-D With Natasha’s British background and Hessam’s Iranian background a lot of attention went into special elements of the wedding like the sugar blessing during the ceremony and the Persian cake knife dance (!) – my camera was delighted!! Did you see the incredible 3D laser cut invite made by Arty Miss? Gordon and Emma from ‘Gordon Manuel @ the Venue’ at South Hill pulled off yet another feat of wedding perfection from the organising to the sublime food to the excellent service!

Natasha and Hessam, you guys were so amazingly relaxed and happy happy happy! I couldn’t have asked for more and I hope (know!) you guys had the most memorable day! :-D Here are your photos…

My indispensible help on the day was Hanlie Green (who shot the full restaurant photo below – hmmm, I think I need her wide angle lens!) and have a peek at Natasha and Hessam’s Photo Booth pics here on my Facebook page :-D

Rockhaven in winter is almost as gorgeous as Rockhaven in summer. The low light lends a gentle sense of romance to an already dreamy venue. Clarissa and Rainer braved the weather fates and celebrated their wonderful wedding in the soft August sun – so beautiful! (We didn’t even get to use the specially bought umbrella’s for the occasion :-) ) Here are the photos of their lovely day…

Family weddings are THE BEST and getting to shoot them is just such an honour! Jess (my gorgeous youngest cousin) and Rhodes got married at our old school St Anne’s, on a crisp Natal winter’s day in the heart of the snowy Midlands. This one was a wedding to remember…

The day before we had scouted the venue and roamed the countryside finding waterfalls, flower strewn meadows and breathtaking vistas for the couple shoot -well, fate had other plans… They came in the form of a tetchy pregnant Nguni cow (with horns – big ones!!) who, on the wedding day, took an instant dislike to us tramping through her field and proceeded to charge us down – scattering bride, groom, cameras and brave assistants (thanks Dons!). Rhodes, what a gentleman :-D , created a human shield while us screaming girls ran for cover! Jess, that man’s a keeper!! There really are only so many couples who will take this in their stride and be just as happy to have their couple shoot in the cow pen as they would have been in front of a cascading waterfall – what more can I ask for! Well, I actually ADORE the cow pen photos and can’t wait to tell the story of their day here… (I may also need to mention the crazy horse that stole and downed the Best Man’s beer while we were shooting the bridal party photos – it’s like the Wild West and I’m not making any of this up!).

The day was put together with effortless ease and attention to detail by Faye from Poetry Weddings (so lovely working with you :-) ) and hosted at Nicolson’s Country Cafe by Jess’ chef brother Jonty – a rising culinary star! The flowers were all done by family and friends and the beautiful cake was crafted by my other aunt Sharon McKenzie – such a wonderful family affair! Enjoy the photos…
