I love how each wedding has it’s own wonderful vibe. When Lauren and I met up beforehand to chat about their Lanzerac wedding the words that kept coming up were ‘classic’, ‘traditional’ and ‘elegant’. I relish a challenge ;-) and worked throughout the day to keep a formal and timeless backbone to the photo compositions. Lauren and Anwar, I hope you love the pictures that tell the story of your beautiful day. What a delight you two were!! Good luck in all your jet-setting endeavours and send US some photos! :-D p.s Formal and timeless were thrown out the window for the dancing shots – hahaaa! Want to see more antics? Have a peek at the photo booth pics here on Facebook :-)

Carika and Ruan’s Kleinevalleij wedding was the prettiest wedding I’ve shot this year – in the most classic sense of the word! Blushing pastels, an abundance of soft flowers, twinkling chandeliers and a candy pink cadillac! Oh happy day!! These two are something special together – in her speech Carika talked about it taking some time to find each other, but I reckon it was worth the wait! Carika and Ruan, what an honour it was to share your wedding day with you – a real joy!! Everything was put together perfectly by the multi-skilled team at Kraak (well done Maudre!).  Please take some time to check out the websites of the other talented contributors to this beautiful day at the bottom of the post.

Astrid and Michael win my award for Most Laid Back Couple of the Year and are also in the running for the Braver than Brave medal for planning their wedding in only two months!! A mighty feat effortlessly pulled off (although I don’t doubt there may be a few grey hairs left behind! ;-D). I love that I learn something more about my own take on photography through every single wedding that I do and Astrid and Michael’s couple shoot really reiterated to me how much I love the small moments – those tender interactions that show how much these two people love and know each other. They speak volumes to me… I’m a dyed in the wool romantic and I’ll freely admit it :-D Enjoy the photos… Assisted by wonderwoman extraordinaire Illyan Cloete.

Weddings are a beautiful affair it goes without saying – a mix of people at their happiest and venues at their loveliest. And once in a while I get to tell a story that has a really different kind of beauty to it – enter Victoria and Mark. This is a story of two English lovebirds who chose a fairytale setting on the tip of Africa to celebrate their intimate winter wedding – just the two of them…

What a beautiful end to a beautiful tale of love and laughter(!) That is just Simoné and Anwar all over! Since their Lovebirds engagement shoot I’ve been looking forward to their fun-filled wedding day and when I heard Pancakes was set to walk down the aisle as the ring-bearer I knew this was going to be a Simoné classic! The whole day was put together with the usual expert precision and incredible attention to detail of Nadia Strauss from 4 Every Event (I like to think of her as one of the Western Cape’s doyennes of the wedding industry :-) ). This really was a unique day – enjoy the photos…

Karen and Adrian are an amazing couple, not least for being able to pull off a wedding in only a few weeks! No fussing around – just them, their loved ones, a church, a beautiful restaurant, some vines and a view :-D Doesn’t that sound perfect??? Karen got ready at the exquisite 5 star Marine Hotel in Hermanus, and after the ceremony everyone moved up to the stunning restaurant at La Vierge, run by star chef Shane Sauvage. It doesn’t get better than a perfect day in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley. Karen and Adrian, I hope it was a beautiful day to remember for you both :-)

You know when you find a gem –  it doesn’t happen very often and it doesn’t happen very often right on your doorstep! Well I couldn’t be luckier that Just Pure is slap bang in the middle of Hermanus and not off tucked snugly in the middle of Cape Town like the rest of the trendy eateries/ boutiques/ body care emporiums. It’s the place you always want to go for lunch and end up snuffling for hours through their amazing and ever changing range of books, home wares, lotions and potions, babywear and knick knacks. The coffee is organic and freshly ground, the food is totally delicious and oh-so-generously portioned, in fact this could be the ideal place for a long and leisurely lunch with the girl-friends (a big hint to anyone coming through for the Whale Festival!).

So lucky me got luckier when Tamsin Koen (the co-owner and visual genius behind it all) asked me to take some photos for their new website! These are just a few of them – I think my camera may have been smoking by the time I left – soooo much to photograph! Enjoy!

Morning all! Well, if I wasn’t blogging right now I’d be lying like a python digesting the most scrumptious food from yesterday’s Barrel Cellar lunch at Beaumont Wines in Bot River. The lovely ladies from Zest, Nici and Jen, pulled the proverbial rabbit out the hat once again with their awesome fare, all topped off with delectable wines matching each course and a good chat through the farm, wines and vines from the host and winemaker Sebastian Beaumont. The weather was sublimely warm, the barrel cellar cool and inviting – in fact the only bad thing I can say is that this was the last lunch for 2011, so keep a keen eye out for dates for 2012! Enjoy the photos!
