Poached Cape Fruits28/02/12
Did you see the lovely breakfast recipe for poached summer fruit with spiced yoghurt on the Pretty Blog last week? Ilse van der Merwe from the Food Fox made the most delectably soft and sumptuous mix of cape fruits that she poached in a heavenly vanilla syrup and drizzled with thick cool yoghurt spiced with cinnamon and cardamom (my favourite spice!). This is the good stuff!

Just Pure’ly lovely30/09/11
You know when you find a gem – it doesn’t happen very often and it doesn’t happen very often right on your doorstep! Well I couldn’t be luckier that Just Pure is slap bang in the middle of Hermanus and not off tucked snugly in the middle of Cape Town like the rest of the trendy eateries/ boutiques/ body care emporiums. It’s the place you always want to go for lunch and end up snuffling for hours through their amazing and ever changing range of books, home wares, lotions and potions, babywear and knick knacks. The coffee is organic and freshly ground, the food is totally delicious and oh-so-generously portioned, in fact this could be the ideal place for a long and leisurely lunch with the girl-friends (a big hint to anyone coming through for the Whale Festival!).
So lucky me got luckier when Tamsin Koen (the co-owner and visual genius behind it all) asked me to take some photos for their new website! These are just a few of them – I think my camera may have been smoking by the time I left – soooo much to photograph! Enjoy!

Beaumont Wine Lunch26/09/11
Morning all! Well, if I wasn’t blogging right now I’d be lying like a python digesting the most scrumptious food from yesterday’s Barrel Cellar lunch at Beaumont Wines in Bot River. The lovely ladies from Zest, Nici and Jen, pulled the proverbial rabbit out the hat once again with their awesome fare, all topped off with delectable wines matching each course and a good chat through the farm, wines and vines from the host and winemaker Sebastian Beaumont. The weather was sublimely warm, the barrel cellar cool and inviting – in fact the only bad thing I can say is that this was the last lunch for 2011, so keep a keen eye out for dates for 2012! Enjoy the photos!

Food from the Karoo24/06/11
Food from the Karoo, also known as FFTK, is the brain child of Tania Harrison, a Karoo plaas-meisjie who likes to take time out from her hectic career as director of the Cape Town based design agency Code, to make the most of her family farm in the Karoo. She sells the most amazing meat products and farm specialities from Karoo lamb and free-range pork to the world’s best buttermilk rusks and straight-from-the-farm-kitchen ‘Farmalade’. Scrumptious, and you can take my word for it! And there is so much more… go and take a good look around.
I have been missing my food photography with so much happening on the wedding front, and this has been such an awesome project to get back into the kitchen with a camera!!! I hope you enjoy the FFTK pics!

The Shuntin Shed18/04/11
The Shuntin Shed is a fabulous pizza shack on the Bot River train station a few minutes drive off the N2. Jen and Warren chose this for their pre-wedding dinner to have some time to chat with family and friends, many of whom had flown in from overseas for their big day! I love this place and I LOVE their pizzas, both for their rustic homeliness and no-nonsense laid back charm. We had such fun shooting a quick Lovebirds session around the station – grungy, fun and unintentionally vintage i.e. untouched since the 50′s
. Enjoy! Wedding Sneak Peek coming soon…

Good Old Food!11/03/11
I know this is an old ‘un, but for the sake of mixing it up on the new blog I thought I would have a bit of a nostalgic post today. These are photos I took last year for the totally awesome ‘Gordon Manuel @ the Venue’. Gordon and Emma are based at the wine farm South Hill in the Elgin Valley and their delicious, lick-your-plate-clean food will blow you away! Guys out there – Gordon has a way with meat second to none - - don’t say I didn’t tell you!
