Ceres on the whole did it’s best to impress the socks off me for our trip up to shoot Celesté and Kobus’ wedding. The days were calm, the evenings cool, the vistas rugged and the air life affirming. Celesté and Kobus put so much thought into the day, the rituals, the speeches and the fun! They chose to say their vows in the middle of the room in between all their loved ones (and in between 7 glorious mini-courses of delicious food!) and started the evening’s festivities with some brilliant stand-up from South African genius comedian Tats Nkonzo. Olive Rock was the perfect venue for this unique day. The fantastic decor was put together by Marcel Augustyn-Clark, the ceremony beautifully lead by Fourie ‘Storieman’ Roussouw and the whole shebang captured in motion by the ever-talented Sweefilm. Thanks to Nicole Rich for expertly assisting me and manning the fab photo booth – see the crazy photos here :-D

Celesté and Kobus – what can I say??? You two are awesome from the toes up!! From the beginning it’s been a wonderful, creative, fun and belly-laugh filled journey :-D Your enthusiasm and zestiness are infectious and what a phenomenal wedding it was!

The light we caught at the end of Kerry and Ian’s couple shoot just makes you want to weep! Well, at least it has that effect on me ;-) So much of their happy wedding was just as breath taking, from the gorgeous bride herself (perfected by Marli Basson’s exquisite make-up!), to the view from the wonderful venue Hidden Valley, and the artful and delicious food (can you call food breath taking? The pudding was among the best I’ve ever had – and I’m a pudding fanatic!!). Kerry and Ian managed to plan this whole fantastic affair from the other side of the world (Australia ;-) )!! Well done, you two, on an amazing day – I hope Africa doesn’t seem too far away after looking through the photos :-)

There is only one word to describe Suzi and Steve’s wedding perfectly… EPIC!! Think a bevy of Scotsmen in full regalia, a breathtaking Grecian style creation of a wedding dress, a flurry of cherubic flower girls… Think a dazzling array of exquisite Fleur le Cordeur floral creations, meters of a gorgeous, candlelit layed tables, Le Franschhoek Hotel’s views over the mountains at sunset… Think a custom designed and installed nightclub, oysters, a marimba band and magician to entertain the guests… All this perfectly put together by the amazing team at Wedding Concepts with a vision to make Suzi and Steve’s day unforgettable. This gorgeous couple became a new family on this day and sumptuous surroundings and details aside, it was so clear to see their joy. That is really what’s epic. It’s what makes me so grateful that I get to do this wonderful job. Uncountable thanks go to my official second shooter for the day Kristi Agier – thank you for helping me tell their story – and trusty right hand gal Illyan Cloete for assisting like a pro! I would not have made it without you girls :-D Suzi and Steve, thank you so much for choosing me to be there with you… To see more photos for their two pre-events have a peek here.

What a treat it was to shoot gorgeous Milandré and Dawie’s wedding at Langkloof Roses in Wellington – a venue really steeped in old world charm… From the millions of soft little rose faces, to the quiet dark chapel, to the plush velvet seating… From our first chat together it was obvious that this was exactly what Milandré wanted for her beautiful day – it would be hard to find a happier bride (or one with more pizzazz)!! Milandré and Dawie, thank you so much for choosing me to be part of it all! What a joyful start to your married life! Brilliantly assisted by the lovely Jezebel da Mota Ribeiro

What it is to be young, happy and marrying the love of your life! Lika and Freddie have been together since their school days and you can see their path together in life stretching out in front of them for so many happy years to come! My husband and I were a bit older than these gorgeous two when we met, but I recognise the same kind of togetherness in them – a sort of growing up together, along the same road and with the same take on life. They celebrated their marriage at the family farm in Vyeboom with so many friends and relatives and it was such a joyful start to their story – I can’t wait to see the videography from the super Goosebump team :-) Thank you so much to my skilled assistant Kristi Agier for some superb guest shots and for manning the hilarious photo booth – see pics here! Nadia and the team at 4 Every Event put together another superb day… p.s How beautiful is their Kanya Hunt wedding cake?!

Unique expression – as a photographer I think about this a lot. How to show your take on the world and share your aesthetic. I don’t think it would be overestating to say this is the most important consideration in creative photography followed closely by the integrity of the information (especially for weddings). What I adore about Roule and Ed’s happy wedding is just this – the unique expression they gave to their day. They used the perfect backdrop of Roodezand in Tulbagh to create a wonderfully rich and painterly tableau of the Old Dutch Masters style. Plump pomegranates, purple figs, old pewter ware and framed tapestries… Deeply happy making! Along with this, Roule and Ed just happen to be two of the most delightful people you’re ever going to meet! It was such a relaxed day with friends in such a beautiful spot, I feel very lucky to have photographed this amazing wedding… (and that dress!!) Assisted by the lovely Nicole Rich p.s A little touch I just adored were the notes that Ed hung up outside explaining the fascinating (and sometimes less than romantic!) origins of wedding traditions :-D

It is with such a happy heart that I share Sarah and David’s photos of their big day!! What a phenomenally fun couple this is and a total treat for me to photograph! Sarah and David went the extra mile for their wedding – quite literally ;-) as they and almost all their wedding guests flew in from the UK to celebrate in South African style at the ever wonderful South Hill, here in Elgin. Sarah spent a YEAR making 1000 origami paper cranes that hung around the tree for the ceremony – no-one tops that for dedication!! David and his besties got ready at the awesome Old Mac Daddy just over the road. Now I’m not a girl that was born with the shoe obsessed gene but Sarah’s Jimmy Choo’s may be my all time exception – woah!!

You lovely two, I hope you love the photos a tenth of the amount that I loved being there and photographing your absolutely wonderful day! Thank you!

Expertly assisted by the wonderful Kristi Agier.

Tammy and Schalk chose the most beautiful day and the most gorgeous Cape Town hotel  for their happy February wedding! The Vineyard is so full of history, sumptuous elegance and winding fern covered pathways down to the Liesbeek River that runs through the property – a real hidden gem in the heart of the city. Tammy and her family were so hands on with the wedding (from the stationery and decor right down to the amazing cake her mum made herself, flowers and all!) and the whole day went off beautifully from the Constantia Christ Church ceremony to sushi, marimba band live music and drinks on the rolling lawn to really heartfelt speeches and a hilarious photo booth (see the pics here :-) ). Tammy and Schalk, what a wonderful start to the next chapter! Assisted by the ever lovely Illyan Cloete.
