Karen and Doug were so lucky to have family friends willing to let them use their ‘backyard’ for their gorgeous wedding – oh, and what a backyard!! Windermere is one the most beautiful farms in Elgin with view, lakes, orchards and a garden that is a lifetime achievement! Karen sent me a moodboard months ago showing what she wanted the day to look like and the talented team at 4 Every Event brought her vision to life down to the smallest detail. What a perfect day for these two lovebirds! They were lucky enough to have Gordon Manuel from the Venue at South Hill to create the perfect menu and to top it all off they had the best ‘Best Man’ speech I have ever heard!! Douglas Lawrence Rupert Cherry, that is one phenomenal friend you have there I hope you love the photos… Assisted by the lovely Kristi Agier.

Carika and Ruan’s Kleinevalleij wedding was the prettiest wedding I’ve shot this year – in the most classic sense of the word! Blushing pastels, an abundance of soft flowers, twinkling chandeliers and a candy pink cadillac! Oh happy day!! These two are something special together – in her speech Carika talked about it taking some time to find each other, but I reckon it was worth the wait! Carika and Ruan, what an honour it was to share your wedding day with you – a real joy!! Sam and Malcolm, what can I say – you guys are legendary!! ‘Fun’ doesn’t even begin to cover it all! I know it felt like the hottest day on the planet but I think the photos just show you two looking radiant and that’s the way I remember it! Happy and together through it all What a stunning day – from the flowers to the dress to the church and the speeches – you guys had it all with some dance moves to spare Wow and again… I hope you love the photos and I’m so thrilled you picked me to share your day For awesome Photo Booth photos from the wedding have a peek here. I love these two! I loved the venue, I loved the (Anzel-designed) stationery, I loved the navy and white colour palette, I loved all the details, I loved (so much!) how happy these two were to be marrying each other – the only thing I didn’t love (so much!) was the gale force wind but it did give us some beautifully dramatic portraits of Anzel in the swaying grasses, so it may be forgiven There really was so much to love about their day. Gabrielskloof was a beautiful backdrop to it all and, shown briefly in the last two pictures here, I think this may have been the sunset of the year! Considering the unpredictable weather we’ve been having Lieria and Louis couldn’t have chosen a luckier day for their gorgeous wedding at Morgenhof in Stellenbosch! We started off shooting at Louis’ parents home where all the guys were recovering hanging out together, getting ready for the rest of the big day Then on to the stunning Bonne Esperance Guest House with the girls – what a crazy fun bunch of lovely girls!! They were whisked away to the ceremony in a Rolls Royce (nice!) and so began the beautiful wedding story… (p.s Finding that lego piece in Louis’ room with the sticker that exactly matched the design of Lieria’s wedding ring makes that photo one of my favourites of all time! Yes, I love the quirky details ) Assisted by right hand gal Illyan Cloete.

Ronel Bauermeister is the creative spirit behind the jewellery range Topiary and Ashe. Ronel and my friendship dates from way back when we were messing around the Stellenbosch Art Dept together – she was studying jewellery and I was studying Fine Art. Wow, such a crazy, care free, happy time Her exceptional talent as a jeweller was apparent from the earliest point and it’s such a privilege to help her showcase some of her amazing work. Just a whimsical title for this little sneak peek I had the amazing opportunity to do something really different yesterday! I don’t shoot much beauty/marketing work but when one of my best friends Ronel Bauermeister and I started chatting about doing a shoot for her EXQUISITE jewellery range Topiary & Ashe, I knew we were on to something fun and exciting! Wow – this was such a crazy learning curve for me! We had the help of fab hair and make-up wonder Chante le Sueur and of course the breath-taking beauty of model extraordinaire Karen Engelbrecht. Dazzling! I can’t wait to get working on the pics!

I have a special place in my heart for the Swartland’s craggy mountains, wild flowers and scrub bush. It’s not just grain crops and dusty towns as far as the eye can see! Magdelien and Willie chose the venue Goedgedacht, not only for it’s amazing natural beauty, but also to give back through the celebration of their big day. As well as being a wedding venue Goedgedacht is also a charity that supports local children through their ‘Path out of Poverty’ programme.

Their wedding day, in true Swartland fashion, was hot, hot, hot, but somehow Magdelien managed to sail beautifully through the whole thing looking sublimely gorgeous and happily in love What a day filled with family (so much family! Even the minister was Magdelien’s Dad ) and wonderful friends – Willie and Mags, how lucky you two are and remember this is just the beginning of your own little family! p.s. You two are amazing dancers!!!

What a beautiful end to a beautiful tale of love and laughter(!) That is just Simoné and Anwar all over! Since their Lovebirds engagement shoot I’ve been looking forward to their fun-filled wedding day and when I heard Pancakes was set to walk down the aisle as the ring-bearer I knew this was going to be a Simoné classic! The whole day was put together with the usual expert precision and incredible attention to detail of Nadia Strauss from 4 Every Event (I like to think of her as one of the Western Cape’s doyennes of the wedding industry ). This really was a unique day – enjoy the photos…
