OK I have an admission to make – I was really skeptical about the Food Fox’s idea to make a crustless pear and almond tart. A tart with no pastry – isn’t that the best bit??? Well, how she proved me wrong and shame on me for doubting the ultimate domestic goddess in the kitchen!! This tart is the tea-time biz and so much quicker to make than the classic original! Classics are classic for a reason – obvious enough to say, but once you’ve made your own tarte tatin or dauphinoise potatoes or hollandaise sauce you really understand why these are the recipes that have never fallen into obscurity through the years – they are just too darn delicious! I love that Ilse (from the delectable Food Fox) can take a classic and wring the changes with such resounding success! Updating a famous dish is not as easy as it looks, but the soft, buttery pears and caramelly (is that a word?), earthy pecans are just the perfect way to see us into some cold weather baking! How much do I love family shoots, then add to that an orchard full of pear blossoms, a cute miniture Jack Russell and a model chock full of smiles for me  - a photographer’s dream day out! With my own immediate and extended family full of girls, it was a treat to take shots of such a gorgeous little tyke! Dungarees and all :-)
