Oh my word, what a phenomenally F-U-N wedding this was!!! Natasha, Hessam and entourage sure know how to parté :-D With Natasha’s British background and Hessam’s Iranian background a lot of attention went into special elements of the wedding like the sugar blessing during the ceremony and the Persian cake knife dance (!) – my camera was delighted!! Did you see the incredible 3D laser cut invite made by Arty Miss? Gordon and Emma from ‘Gordon Manuel @ the Venue’ at South Hill pulled off yet another feat of wedding perfection from the organising to the sublime food to the excellent service!

Natasha and Hessam, you guys were so amazingly relaxed and happy happy happy! I couldn’t have asked for more and I hope (know!) you guys had the most memorable day! :-D Here are your photos…

My indispensible help on the day was Hanlie Green (who shot the full restaurant photo below – hmmm, I think I need her wide angle lens!) and have a peek at Natasha and Hessam’s Photo Booth pics here on my Facebook page :-D

Astrid and Michael win my award for Most Laid Back Couple of the Year and are also in the running for the Braver than Brave medal for planning their wedding in only two months!! A mighty feat effortlessly pulled off (although I don’t doubt there may be a few grey hairs left behind! ;-D). I love that I learn something more about my own take on photography through every single wedding that I do and Astrid and Michael’s couple shoot really reiterated to me how much I love the small moments – those tender interactions that show how much these two people love and know each other. They speak volumes to me… I’m a dyed in the wool romantic and I’ll freely admit it :-D Enjoy the photos… Assisted by wonderwoman extraordinaire Illyan Cloete.

Weddings are a beautiful affair it goes without saying – a mix of people at their happiest and venues at their loveliest. And once in a while I get to tell a story that has a really different kind of beauty to it – enter Victoria and Mark. This is a story of two English lovebirds who chose a fairytale setting on the tip of Africa to celebrate their intimate winter wedding – just the two of them…

This is going to be a mammoth post and I’m not talking the woolly kind! Kristi and AJ’s West Coast wedding at the stunning Strandkombuis restaurant on the dunes was amazing! A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! Surfers to the core, this could not have been a more perfectly chosen spot. Beaches, dunes, salt pans, rustic luxury, relaxed elegance, decor details to die for and the best fish soup this side of Paris – in fact Parisians will be calling for that recipe. So many elements of their day were specially crafted over evenings of many a glass of wine (so I’m told :-D ) with their wedding genius bridesmaids, Kim and Kate of Wedding Concepts fame. Their attention to detail really shone through, even down to the fact that since they got engaged they have been collecting driftwood which AJ made into the menu board below as well as the huge hand-crafted wooden heart behind their table. Dedication and creativity hand in hand.

Kristi and AJ, I’m so delighted that you chose me to share such a perfect day and I am totally blown away by your zesty ‘take life and make it’ attitude. My crystal ball predicts so many happy years ahead for you two!

I have a special place in my heart for the Swartland’s craggy mountains, wild flowers and scrub bush. It’s not just grain crops and dusty towns as far as the eye can see! Magdelien and Willie chose the venue Goedgedacht, not only for it’s amazing natural beauty, but also to give back through the celebration of their big day. As well as being a wedding venue Goedgedacht is also a charity that supports local children through their ‘Path out of Poverty’ programme.

Their wedding day, in true Swartland fashion, was hot, hot, hot, but somehow Magdelien managed to sail beautifully through the whole thing looking sublimely gorgeous and happily in love :-) What a day filled with family (so much family! Even the minister was Magdelien’s Dad :-D ) and wonderful friends – Willie and Mags, how lucky you two are and remember this is just the beginning of your own little family! p.s. You two are amazing dancers!!!

Lisa and Ali chose one of the most lovely summer days for their Elgin wedding at the stunning venue South Hill. The thing that stands out most for me about the day is the beautiful simplicity of it – an exquisitely subdued colour scheme of greys and greens with tiny touches of coral, a wedding dress with no tears in it’s back-story, a suit bought the week before the wedding (hope that wasn’t a state secret :-) ) and two people who have been together a long time making a simple promise.  A beautiful couple on their beautiful day and as always I am so grateful to be a part of the story. (p.s Doesn’t this hug look like a good one???)

Ines and Markus are another phenomonal couple who organised their wedding from overseas (Germany in this case) with the help of some wonder-workers out here: Jen and Nici from Zest Catering and Marina and Tina from Elgin Weddings. They celebrated their big day with just twelve of their family and closest friends who all flew out to be there. Wine tasting, balloon flying and trampolining, all in German, made this an awesome wedding I won’t be forgetting :-D Beaumont Wine Farm – another awesome occasion, guys!!! I hope you enjoy the photos – between Ines’ supermodel good looks and Markus’ cheeky smile they were a total joy to photograph!

Jen’s folks sadly couldn’t make it out to be there, but by the wonders of modern technology the whole ceremony was streamed live to them in Spain!!! How amazing is that??? The plan had originally been to hold the wedding outside under the trees but gale force winds made for a quick change of decision and all the hay bales and guests were snugly tucked into the wine cellar to keep warm and out of the howling gales. How good do those canapés look??? Well done Zesty ladies – scrumptious!
