I’ve been trying to think of some witty connection between the Cape Epic and how epic this wedding was seeing as Oak Valley (Amy’s home) is one of the major points of the famous cycle race ;-) Suffice to say that Amy and Gray’s exquisite celebration was truly a day to remember for years to come. These two are such a special couple and more than a few happy tears were shed throughout the ceremony and especially during Gray’s moving speech… Phew, I’m getting teary eyed! Amy is a co-ordinator herself (part of the very talented team at Nineteen Eighty Five!) and crafted the whole day from start to finish with the help of such a wonderful crew – Agape Wedding and Event Design, Nineteen Eighty Five, the whole team at the Pool Room and ahhhh just too many others to mention here but do have a look at the bottom of the post. What a magnificent wedding these two lovebirds had… Enjoy the photos…

I was assisted by the lovely Tanya Viljoen and I was lucky enough to have a phenomenal second shooter as well. Many thanks to Michelle Joubert-Martin Photography for such great work.

The sheer gobsmacking talent of so many creatives down here in the Western Cape never ceases to amaze and inspire me! The team for this shoot was chock full of people I adore and admire – Heike from Fleur le Cordeur, once again blowing us away with the scope of her limitless imagination, appreciation of the interplay between beauty and texture, as well as her fundamental playfulness ; Yolande du Toit wowing us again on superb hair and make-up for our stunning models Karen Engelbrecht and Alana Jass; Valery Zelenyuk from Agape Wedding and Event Design with her endless energy, flawless taste and willingness to lug an unbelievable amount of heavy furniture up the vertiginous sides of Paarl Rock; plus the talented team at Secret Diary for our beautiful African graphic stationery, M Patisserie for the perfectly hand crafted, gold dusted cake and beautiful dresses from Stefania Morland and Eve’s Bridal wear. Sjo!!

We started talking about this shoot over a year ago now and the main elements we really wanted to play with were textures and graphic patterns against a muted background with a real African backbone to all the designs. A way to showcase a different side to Africa than we usually see. It was a lot about a nude colour palette, dried and foraged foliage and flowers with the tiniest touch of gold glamour to make the monotones sparkles. I am so proud of this shoot and am always alway always grateful to work alongside people who just love to create… and they do it so beautifully…

The shoot was originally featured by The Pretty Blog and we couldn’t have been more delighted to have such an uplifting and South African platform to share the work.
