So it’s the end of the wedding year and there’s some breathing space to reflect on everything that has passed this last twelve months – wow!!

I adore collating some of my favourite moments from the year’s wonderful weddings and each year I take some time to highlight some of my favourite    black and white images altogether. I hope you enjoy these photos…

Brandon, bag and BMW. A bit of fun with the groom’s portraits :-)

Black and white photographs aren’t always an easy sell… It’s sad to say, but it’s understandable why colour images are so much more of a real reflection of the day. But looking from a photographers point of view I find so much to love in a beautiful, evocative monochrome image and I wanted to take a little time to share some of my favourites from the past few years. I hope you love these moment as much as I do…

What a wedding to end off this year’s season! Michelle and Travis said their vows and partied the night away at Langkloof Roses, one of my favourite venues!! The amazing team at Langkloof have made this rose farm into a wonderful little gem hidden just outside of Wellington, full of such charm and creativity. My weddings at Langkloof always seem to be heart-fillingly emotional affairs and this one was no exception. Since both of their dads have sadly passed away this was an especially emotional day for Michelle and Travis. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, mine included… Michelle and Travis, you two are something special… You’ve been through so much and it seems to have only made you stronger and I know your own family in the coming years will feel loved and cherished because of it… Where are those tissues? I just loved this wedding from beginning to end! I absolutely adore Beloftebos with it’s rolling vistas, a ceremony area tucked into an ancient tree grove, glowing Overberg sunsets and the wonderful people there who manage to keep the farm charm underpinned with exceptional service, wonderful food and a real smiling can-do attitude! Such a happy and magical spot to celebrate your big day. Deani and Hano made the great trek down from Jozi and managed to pick a rain free May day for their amazing wedding!! Deani looked like a perfect Snow White bride with her exquisite red lips and ebony hair, and Hano may have had a little of that lipstick on his own lips by the end of the day ;-) I love love love the soft light we got for their couple shoot… I hope you enjoy looking through the photos as much as I loved being there to document their day :-) Assisted by the lovely Claire Harries Photography.

It was a true joy to photograph Dani and Ross – from the incredible beach setting and their vibrant love of life down to so many windswept kisses and their natural ease with each other which translated into something amazing to capture in camera… I hope you love the photos as much as I LOVED shooting this amazing Lovebirds engagement session. I just can’t wait for their gorgeous wedding at the Oaks later this year! Dani and Ross, you two are just a.m.a.z.i.n.g…

This shoot is the reason I adore engagement shoots – it gave us time to get to know each other and feel relaxed in front of the camera before the big day but most of all to get a bit creative and have loads of FUN! Lika and Freddie are just the most gorgeous couple and don’t need much prompting on the fun side :-D Young and in love, it’s just a classic romance playing out right in front of you… happy sigh… These photos in the woods are such a great beginning to their wedding story and I can’t wait for their beautiful farm wedding in March!

This is going to be a mammoth post and I’m not talking the woolly kind! Kristi and AJ’s West Coast wedding at the stunning Strandkombuis restaurant on the dunes was amazing! A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! Surfers to the core, this could not have been a more perfectly chosen spot. Beaches, dunes, salt pans, rustic luxury, relaxed elegance, decor details to die for and the best fish soup this side of Paris – in fact Parisians will be calling for that recipe. So many elements of their day were specially crafted over evenings of many a glass of wine (so I’m told :-D) with their wedding genius bridesmaids, Kim and Kate of Wedding Concepts fame. Their attention to detail really shone through, even down to the fact that since they got engaged they have been collecting driftwood which AJ made into the menu board below as well as the huge hand-crafted wooden heart behind their table. Dedication and creativity hand in hand.

Kristi and AJ, I’m so delighted that you chose me to share such a perfect day and I am totally blown away by your zesty ‘take life and make it’ attitude. My crystal ball predicts so many happy years ahead for you two!
