How gorgeous are these rose and orchid petals for confetti!

There couldn’t have been a better wedding to start my new season off with… I ADORE home weddings and farm weddings and beach weddings and this was a wonderful combination of all three :-) What I really love about Claudine and Pieter-Philip was their happy, no-fuss attitude to the whole day which made everything flow so beautifully! The other delight was to work with the wonderful team at Kraak, who’s good taste, organisation and can do attitude created a celebration so special and beautifully unique. So enough with me talking, here are the photos of Claudine and Pieter-Philip’s truly beautiful West Coast wedding… SO many thanks to my assistant on the day Angelique Smith. Have a peek at their photo booth photos here!

Amanda and Willie, along with their family and dearest friends, came down all the way from Gauteng to celebrate their wedding in the heart of the winelands at the lovely Rickety Bridge Wine Farm. You may remember this awesome couple from their Kalk Bay Lovebirds engagement shoot – and as with that shoot, on their big day they were so relaxed and a complete joy to photograph!! Franschhoek really is a special spot and I’ve no doubt Amanda and Willie have carried so many special memories back home with them… Enjoy the photos… Assisted by the fantastic Illyan Cloete.

Lara and Etienne flew out from their homebase of Australia (cue the koalas ;-)) to celebrate their happy wedding at the gorgeous Brenaissance just outside Stellenbosch in the heart of the winelands. Apart from a few ‘little’ gusts of Cape wind it was the perfect day! Seriously, what about that dress – just amazing!!! Thank you Lara and Etienne, for being SOOO lovely to be around and enjoy this day with – I know it was full to bursting with happy South African memories to take home again :-) Enjoy the photos… Assisted by the lovely Claire Harries

This is why I do my job ;-) Absolute, pure, undiluted joy :-D

I just adore shooting at Beaumont in Bot River! A little gem in the heart of the Overberg – so relaxed and full of farm charm, plus the catering team based there, Zest, are a talented duo who make all manner of deliciousness in their kitchen!! Sue and Nick made such a great choice to get married there and the whole day fit so beautifully with their happy, laid back personalities! There was some surprising unforecast rain which moved the reception from the planned garden soiree into the wine cellar, but judging by the laughter levels and all the platters and wine bottles I saw going back to the kitchen empty I can say without doubt that this didn’t impact the happy mood of the day one bit!! Thanks to Selmari Slot for wonderful assisting on the day!

Sue and Nick, you guys take my breath away! So gorgeous, so happy, so meant for each other… I know you’re going to have such an amazing life with all your travels, but I hope these photos will keep a little piece of your heart in South Africa :-)

Julie-Anne and Andrew’s wedding was a thoroughly Cape Town based affair on a blissfully rain free Saturday in Constantia :-) They were married at the chapel at Andrew’s old school, Bishops College and celebrated with friends, family, champagne, yummy canapes and ice-creams at the super lovely venue of Constantia Glen. Oh, and did I mention there was ice-cream?? Juls and Andrew have a seriously bright future ahead of them with such exciting plans and so much love between the two of them – I’m thrilled to have been there on day No.1!! A big thank you to my brilliant second shooter Kristi Agier for capturing the guys getting ready and the guests arriving at the church, plus so much help on the day as always! Have a peek too at their lovely Cape Town engagement shoot and the hilarious photo booth pics from the wedding!

Lanica and I met a few years back when I photographed our friends Jen and Warren’s wedding and she flew out from the UK for it. So when she emailed me saying  her and Huw were coming out to SA again for their own wedding at the stunning Babylonstoren it felt like a happy reunion! :-D Their big day was just PERFECT! With just a handful of their most special people to witness such an emotional ceremony. Lanica had secretly organised a local choir to sing “Diamonds on the soles of her shoes” to walk her down the aisle, which was one of Huw’s late Dad’s favourite songs – there pretty much wasn’t a dry eye in the house!! Phew, a bit of a misted up camera too!! Lanica and Huw, I know you guys had the most amazing day and I really hope these photos capture even a fraction of the love, laughs and joy for you.

The whole day was run beautifully by Anna from Anna Marcelle Weddings and assisting was the ever wonderful Illyan Cloete :-)

It’s tempting to talk about this wedding in terms of the weather… The flash floods, torrential downpours, tents in peril and rose gardens under water… But really what defines this wedding is a couple who couldn’t stop smiling through it all, a family who pulled together in the face of extreme circumstances, friends who danced until the dance floor was floating away and the happy magic that comes from two people made for each other promising to stay together for their whole lives. It was an incredible day, one for the books, one for the records and hopefully one Caty and Mike won’t ever forget ;-) In fact, I can guarantee that!! Enjoy the photos… Special mention needs to go out to the other stoic service providers who helped to make the day such a success in wellies -namely 4 Every Event, Gordon’s Country Kitchen and FJS Productions. More info at the bottom of the post.

Based on the initial given that Astrid is HILARIOUS, you have to know how much fun this wedding was to shoot!! The heart of the Swartland, windmills, Darren’s live rendition of The Lumineers ‘Ho Hey’, paintball bruises, lots of scotch, homemade salted caramel ice-cream cones (woah!!), a little bit of black lace, shiny beetles, rivers of happy tears, wheat fields at sunset and a true passion between these two that I see stretching out for decades to come… the foundations for an incredible day!! Angie from My Pretty Vintage ran the whole show in such style! I’m thinking of raising the idea of a biennial vow renewal for these two!! ;-) If you missed it have a peek at their Lovebirds engagements shoot, full of salty kisses! P.s Astrid and Darren – thanks for the Zanzibar postcard!! Wish island honeymoons needed documenting too ;-) Thank you Nicole Rich for fabulous assisting!

Madelé, Corrie and I all got on like a house on fire from the first meeting, chatting away ten to the dozen – what a difference it makes to have a relaxed rapport on the day, especially during the couple shoot when all I love to capture in camera is their connection and lots of happy kisses ;-) It was also such a treat to shoot in my home town of Elgin at the ever gorgeous South Hill venue! Madelé and Corrie, I know you guys have a future fit to bursting with great times together – you are so well matched that it can’t be otherwise :-D Thank you so much for choosing me to share this blessed day with you!! Marjan and Mohamad make me feel like I’m on the set of an incredibly glamorous film but this is their life! Both starting out from exotic lands, then an overseas romance, and finally an intimate wedding at the gorgeous Hawksmoor House. How is it possible that they’re also some of the most delightful people I’ve ever met??? Mohamad, I’m still laughing at your stories!! We had such fun, even through the freezing rain, on their Lovebirds engagement shoot and the wedding day itself was an autumn afternoon of soft light, crisp air and a sweet ceremony leading up to a happy, candlelit dinner party with just a handful of their most special people. A truly personal day – a wedding in a million… Assisted at the eleventh hour by the super Sarah Bartholomew :-)

On a beautiful blustery autumn afternoon Rika and Izak were married amidst friends, family and so many tears of joy! Their gorgeous venue Gabrielskloof was brimming with soft roses that Rika’s talented daughter Liezl le Roux put together from the amazing rose growers Langkloof Roses where she works – what a delicate and gently colourful display. So perfect…

When I first met Rika she said the day they met she ‘just knew’ – like a perfect puzzle piece fit. I am so happy for these two wonderful spirits and even happier they chose me to share their blissful day with them :-) Enjoy the photos :-D
