My first sneak peek of this season’s first wedding… Such a special one with Elaine and Rudie…

These two very special lovebirds have taken a lot of life in their stride, hand in hand. I feel very honoured to have been able to capture the beginning of their own lovely family memories :-D It was a crisp April day at the gorgeous Hawksmoor House outside of Stellenbosch – the perfect setting for such a happy celebration, with a silver lining of romance and glamour! Kate and Riaan, I hope you love the photos as much as I’ve loved being a part of your wonderful story!

The day was put together beautifully by the talented Anne Mann Celebrates and I was assisted by the lovely Illyan Cloete. Many many thanks go to Ilse de Klerk Photography for such awesome guest shots! Enjoy the photos :-)

This is my last sneak peek for this wedding season, in the last rays of May’s soft light… Kate and Warren’s beautiful and emotional day was the perfect way to close this year’s photo journey :-)

Kerry and Simon flew out to the Cape, an Australian girl and a South African boy, for the most beautiful Stellenbosch day to celebrate their Zorgvliet wedding. And the winelands were at their best!! They were guests at another of my happy weddings and I love being part of a continuing story, especially as I got to see my other lovely couple Karen and Doug (and baby bump) at the ceremony :-) Kerry and Simon’s wedding was such a calm and joyful affair (until the party later!!) – really the best way to kick off my beautiful 2015 weddings! Thank you two so much for having me along and for making it so lovely and easy to document the beginning of your happy marriage!! Assisted by the lovely Illyan Cloete.

This light was worth missing a waterfall and standing in an ants nest for :-D The very blessed Elizabeth and Jordan…

Oh how classy and gorgeous is Anchen??? Perfection…

Julia and Henry’s big day at Cape Point Vineyards started with gale force winds and low dramatic clouds hanging over the whole of Noordhoek from the mountains to the bay. By the time we got to the couple shoot the wind had died down to a very photogenic breeze and the sun made the most timely appearance for some beautiful backlit shots! They took the day in their stride with such happy hearts and beamed through all the blur of emotion and hubbub :-) Julia and Henry, thank you soooo much for sharing your classic and timelessly beautiful big day with me… I feel very honoured!! Enjoy the photos… A special thank you too to the wonderful Claire Harries Photography for assisting on the day, driving me around her ‘hood and jumping in last minute to help with some beautiful guest pics!

There couldn’t have been a better wedding to start my new season off with… I ADORE home weddings and farm weddings and beach weddings and this was a wonderful combination of all three :-) What I really love about Claudine and Pieter-Philip was their happy, no-fuss attitude to the whole day which made everything flow so beautifully! The other delight was to work with the wonderful team at Kraak, who’s good taste, organisation and can do attitude created a celebration so special and beautifully unique. So enough with me talking, here are the photos of Claudine and Pieter-Philip’s truly beautiful West Coast wedding… SO many thanks to my assistant on the day Angelique Smith. Have a peek at their photo booth photos here!

There’s still a nip in the air as winter winds down and a quietness out here in Elgin that you never get at any other time of year. The ground is still sleepy and spring still a few weeks off. I love shooting during winter (when it isn’t raining ;-)) because of the calm colours and low skies that diffuse the light so beautifully -you always get the best and gentlest skin tones during winter shoots. Anchen, Brandon and I drove all the way up to the top of Elgin to Mofam River Lodge for their Lovebirds engagement shoot and found the most magnificent river’s edge waiting for us! It felt like we had found a little bit of the American Rocky mountains, complete with fishermen on the lake, plaid shirts, cut logs and pine forests :-) I just LOVE this shoot and I hope you all enjoy the photos from my first session of the season! Anchen and Brandon, I can’t wait for a totally different vibe at your 12 Apostles wedding in November!! I hope you guys love the pics :-)… Make-up by the wonderfully talent Marli Basson.

What a wedding to end off this year’s season! Michelle and Travis said their vows and partied the night away at Langkloof Roses, one of my favourite venues!! The amazing team at Langkloof have made this rose farm into a wonderful little gem hidden just outside of Wellington, full of such charm and creativity. My weddings at Langkloof always seem to be heart-fillingly emotional affairs and this one was no exception. Since both of their dads have sadly passed away this was an especially emotional day for Michelle and Travis. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, mine included… Michelle and Travis, you two are something special… You’ve been through so much and it seems to have only made you stronger and I know your own family in the coming years will feel loved and cherished because of it… Where are those tissues? Assisted by the lovely Claire Harries Photography.

I just loved this wedding from beginning to end! I absolutely adore Beloftebos with it’s rolling vistas, a ceremony area tucked into an ancient tree grove, glowing Overberg sunsets and the wonderful people there who manage to keep the farm charm underpinned with exceptional service, wonderful food and a real smiling can-do attitude! Such a happy and magical spot to celebrate your big day. Deani and Hano made the great trek down from Jozi and managed to pick a rain free May day for their amazing wedding!! Deani looked like a perfect Snow White bride with her exquisite red lips and ebony hair, and Hano may have had a little of that lipstick on his own lips by the end of the day ;-) I love love love the soft light we got for their couple shoot… I hope you enjoy looking through the photos as much as I loved being there to document their day :-) Assisted by the lovely Claire Harries Photography.

What do you get when you cross the hottest day of summer so far, the rolling mountains of the Swartland, a bride with a soul warming smile and the happiest groom I’ve seen this year? Well, it could only be the amazing wedding of Meriek and Dirk!! What a fabulous day, not least because I got to spend it with my sister as well after twisting her rubber arm to come and carry heavy bags of camera equipment for me in 40o heat, after only getting off the plane from the UK a few hours earlier – ah family ;-D Meriek and Dirk, you were both so delightful from the moment we sat down for our coffee meeting and I feel so happy to have been able to spend the day with you both, saying your vows, changing your future and starting your own family… Thank you…

A tiny sneak peek I can’t wait to share from my last wedding for this season at one of my absolute favourite venues, Langkloof Roses

On a gorgeous April day in the beautiful Wellington Moedergemeente church Aletia and Thomas made their wedding vows in front of their family and friends and one enthusiastic passing pigeon ;-) Their day was filled with such well wishes, so many hugs, the most beautiful pastel coloured roses and kilometers of bunting, hand made by Aletia with love… Three kilometers of bunting!! :-D Here are the photos of their happy day at Au de Hex and Kronenburg, put together with the help of Marilise from Polkadot Weddings. Thank you Aletia and Thomas, SO much for sharing this time with me!! Assisted by the lovely Illyan Cloete.
