So basically I’ve spent the last half an hour agonising over which sneak peek to share – these two lovebirds, plus so much Oak Valley loveliness means one happy camera and a lot of photos!! There’s just something about this shot in the greenhouses that I love :-D Keep an eye out for more of this gorgeous pair coming soon!

Claudine and Pieter-Philip are saying their I do’s up on the West Coast near Jacobs Bay so we decided to do something completely different with their Lovebirds engagement shoot! If you follow my blog, you’ll know how much I love my adopted home region here in the Overberg so on a clear winter’s day we set out to wander through the pine forests of Elgin, camera in hand, to start their photo story… I love the earthy feel to these images…

There’s still a nip in the air as winter winds down and a quietness out here in Elgin that you never get at any other time of year. The ground is still sleepy and spring still a few weeks off. I love shooting during winter (when it isn’t raining ;-)) because of the calm colours and low skies that diffuse the light so beautifully -you always get the best and gentlest skin tones during winter shoots. Anchen, Brandon and I drove all the way up to the top of Elgin to Mofam River Lodge for their Lovebirds engagement shoot and found the most magnificent river’s edge waiting for us! It felt like we had found a little bit of the American Rocky mountains, complete with fishermen on the lake, plaid shirts, cut logs and pine forests :-) I just LOVE this shoot and I hope you all enjoy the photos from my first session of the season! Anchen and Brandon, I can’t wait for a totally different vibe at your 12 Apostles wedding in November!! I hope you guys love the pics :-)… Make-up by the wonderfully talent Marli Basson.

Oooh, I love a wintery eshoot!! Here’s a sneak peek of Anchen and Brandon’s lakeside loveliness from their engagement shoot this last weekend :-)

This really was one of the most relaxed weddings I’ve shot in such a long time – a real treat to just go with the happy flow of the day and capture the moments passing by. Nicola and Nick came out from their UK base for our first meeting over some of the bad weather spells we had last year and try as we might to find a date that wasn’t raining for their Lovebirds Engagement shoot it just wasn’t meant to be… Nevertheless these two took to having cameras around on their wedding day with perfect aplomb and I’m so grateful I got to share their phenomenal day at Rockhaven! Theresa from Creation Events Co-ordination put the whole day together beautifully and I so look forward to working with her again. Assisted by the lovely Kristi Agier Photography.

From the first emails and chats it felt like the PERFECT fit with Kate and Chris! Not only did we chat weddings, details and Rockhaven loveliness but also our mutual love of great food! The photos of the rings and shoes in the edible herb garden are my nod to their foodie hearts :-D Chris has turned his brilliant plans into reality and started a food truck in Cape Town for Asian eats and noodles – ooooh!! Go check out whether the Lotus Food Truck will be in your area!

It can’t have been easy fitting the wedding into their lives this past year! They were coming home from Australia, finding new jobs, houses, fitting back in, moving stuff AND planning the big day – not for the feint-hearted!! With the help of special people like Kate’s great friend Fennec of Fox & Co and the amazing team at Rockhaven, they pulled off something wonderful! Hands down the most delightful wedding of 2013! Take a look at the photos… p.s Kate’s ex-ballerina gracefulness is something else… happy sigh…

Emma, Ken and I spent a beautiful Overberg afternoon shooting some bump photos in the lovely Elgin valley. They are waiting to find out whether it’s a boy or a girl (what heroic forbearance!!) and that big day is not too far away now :-) Happy days and so many more to come… I love this shoot so much for it’s relaxed, sunny, African afternoon feel – enjoy the photos…

I just love this happy shot from Emma and Ken’s bump shoot! The light was just amazing! Precious days before baby arrives :-) More pics coming soon…

It’s tempting to talk about this wedding in terms of the weather… The flash floods, torrential downpours, tents in peril and rose gardens under water… But really what defines this wedding is a couple who couldn’t stop smiling through it all, a family who pulled together in the face of extreme circumstances, friends who danced until the dance floor was floating away and the happy magic that comes from two people made for each other promising to stay together for their whole lives. It was an incredible day, one for the books, one for the records and hopefully one Caty and Mike won’t ever forget ;-) In fact, I can guarantee that!! Enjoy the photos… Special mention needs to go out to the other stoic service providers who helped to make the day such a success in wellies -namely 4 Every Event, Gordon’s Country Kitchen and FJS Productions. I adore my little girls, from the word go they were, to me, the most gorgeous things ever to have made a delightful appearance in this world. As much as I adore them, I have to admit, even as a mother, that I’ve never seen a cuter baby than this one!! Hannah is the ultimate cherub – there is just no denying it!! Her mum told me the next day that the evening after the shoot she had a temp of 39C, so she must have been feeling poorly while we photographed already, but there is absolutely no way you could have seen anything other than the worlds happiest, cutest, most edible little munchkin! Enjoy!!

Weddings
The veil15/10/13

I never get tired of these veiled shots…

And so, on a crisp spring afternoon in September, Leani and Franco walked out of the boat house at Rockhaven Farm in Elgin, and into a rain of confetti, glitter and so many happy congratulations! There is so much to love about this wedding and these two, so much love and craftsmanship put in by their whole families and so much creative effort that made the whole day the happiest celebration… Have a peek… Assisted by the ever lovely Illyan Cloete :-)

I honestly didn’t know what to do with myself when I saw this little shot of baby Hannah after our session with the lovely Johnston family yesterday! I may just spontaneously combust with cute overload!! Those cheeks…!!!

What a lovely idea to give your new hubby a romantic birthday shoot as a gift! Definitely from a girl’s perspective ;-) Lloy-Ann and Angelo came through to Elgin on a beautiful winter afternoon and we took a walk around the train station and spent some time messing around and admiring his fab new guitar (another birthday pressie, lucky Mr??). They’re so cute together these two!

It is with such a happy heart that I share Sarah and David’s photos of their big day!! What a phenomenally fun couple this is and a total treat for me to photograph! Sarah and David went the extra mile for their wedding – quite literally ;-) as they and almost all their wedding guests flew in from the UK to celebrate in South African style at the ever wonderful South Hill, here in Elgin. Sarah spent a YEAR making 1000 origami paper cranes that hung around the tree for the ceremony – no-one tops that for dedication!! David and his besties got ready at the awesome Old Mac Daddy just over the road. Now I’m not a girl that was born with the shoe obsessed gene but Sarah’s Jimmy Choo’s may be my all time exception – woah!!

You lovely two, I hope you love the photos a tenth of the amount that I loved being there and photographing your absolutely wonderful day! Thank you!

Expertly assisted by the wonderful Kristi Agier.
