The hardest part of this eshoot with the GORGEOUS Amy and Gray was choosing which photos to blog ;-) I loved so many moments from this Lovebirds shoot on Amy’s family farm Oak Valley here in our beautiful Elgin! A misty morning walk to the dam and back through the greenhouses – such a wonderful morning getting to know these two better before their stunning wedding here next March! Enjoy the photos…

I know I’ve said this so many times before but one of my favourite bits about my job is getting to meet such a wonderful variety of fascinating people! It’s a real privilege to get a peek into their story, especially at such precious times of their lives, like getting engaged or saying their “I do’s”. Anshen flew down to the Cape with his gorgeous girlfriend Ronette, a princess cut diamond gleeming in his pocket :-) He popped the question on Friday, already having booked our eshoot session from afar, hoping she would say yes! And of course she did :-D So Saturday afternoon we headed out to photograph this beautiful ring and their happy smiles on a breath-taking piece of Cape coastline with the mist rolling in… Perfect…

So this story started with an email from Brandon, on the brink of proposing and asking whether I would be there to document the big moment – I’m a TOTAL sucker for such romance :-D After lots of chats we decided that as awesome as that would be it’s hard to smuggle in outfits and make-up for a beautiful eshoot without your soon-to-be-wife realising you’re up to something!! So we chatted some more and came up with a glamorous walk around Cape Town ending on the rooftop of the stunning Urban Chic hotel with the setting sun on Table Mountain in the background. I’m sure you’ll agree it doesn’t get more romantic than that :-D Lindsay and Brandon, what a fun day out with you two!! I can’t wait for your wedding next year!! Enjoy the photos…

So basically I’ve spent the last half an hour agonising over which sneak peek to share – these two lovebirds, plus so much Oak Valley loveliness means one happy camera and a lot of photos!! There’s just something about this shot in the greenhouses that I love :-D Keep an eye out for more of this gorgeous pair coming soon!

“Amor vincit omnia” – Love conquers all :-) So I had to Google that, but I thought since this is the Lovebirds engagement shoot of a Law lecturer and his lovely lady I might get an ‘A’ for effort! :-D We had such fun on campus and up at Rhodes memorial with the most classic of backdrops – stone, ivy and statuary! Gosh I’m feeling more academic by the second ;-) I hope you enjoy the photos of these gorgeous lovebirds – Julie-Anne and Andrew, bring on November wedding loveliness!!

I felt like I was on a movie set hanging out the back of a Jeep shooting these super glam lovebirds on their zooty navy Vespa, round the curves and past the views of Chapman’s Peak :-) What a fun engagement shoot to start off the season! We ended the day with Danielle and Daryl down on Llandudno beach with the most amazingly diffuse sea salt spray sunset… The shoot definitely demanded some ‘vintage late afternoon’ editing :-) How much do we love Dan’s aqua nail polish ?!?! My inspiration for the colour grading! Enjoy…

If I lived in a warmer house I’d be quite content for winter to last all year. I adore the muted colours, rain swept afternoons and deserted beaches. As much as I love this time of year it doesn’t always make for the easiest shooting conditions and we went in to Leani and Franco Lovebirds engagement shoot with a few fingers crossed that the weather would be kind. I guess ‘playful’ would be a better term for how it turned out ;-) Leani and Franco braved everything the day could throw at them and then some! But I’m thrilled with how atmospheric the photos turned out and so excited now to shoot their gorgeous Rockhaven wedding in September! Thank you, guys for rolling with the gusts!!

We chatted quite a bit beforehand about possible locations for this Lovebirds engagement shoot and the words we kept coming back to were ‘natural’ and ‘calm’. Finding the perfect spot for shoots isn’t always easy but I feel so lucky to be in the middle of one of the most beautiful valleys in the country (I may be a little biased here :-D). So cameras packed we headed off to another perfect and tranquil spot in the middle of Elgin – Mofam River Lodge  . Lakes, mountains, rivers, grasses and two picture perfect Lovebirds – such a bounty of beauty! :-)

Winter has been so long, but I really can’t moan when it means I get to shoot engagement sessions like this! It’s all about textures, browns, yellows, leather, wool, rocks and fynbos… with a little bit of happy love thrown in :-) Sam and Malcolm braved icy Cape winds for this shoot on top of the world. The views from the top of Newton Johnson’s wine farm in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley near Hermanus are breathtaking enough to make you realise why this area is called Heaven-and-Earth!
