Kerry and Simon flew out to the Cape, an Australian girl and a South African boy, for the most beautiful Stellenbosch day to celebrate their Zorgvliet wedding. And the winelands were at their best!! They were guests at another of my happy weddings and I love being part of a continuing story, especially as I got to see my other lovely couple Karen and Doug (and baby bump) at the ceremony :-) Kerry and Simon’s wedding was such a calm and joyful affair (until the party later!!) – really the best way to kick off my beautiful 2015 weddings! Thank you two so much for having me along and for making it so lovely and easy to document the beginning of your happy marriage!! Assisted by the lovely Illyan Cloete.

Julia and Henry’s big day at Cape Point Vineyards started with gale force winds and low dramatic clouds hanging over the whole of Noordhoek from the mountains to the bay. By the time we got to the couple shoot the wind had died down to a very photogenic breeze and the sun made the most timely appearance for some beautiful backlit shots! They took the day in their stride with such happy hearts and beamed through all the blur of emotion and hubbub :-) Julia and Henry, thank you soooo much for sharing your classic and timelessly beautiful big day with me… I feel very honoured!! Enjoy the photos… A special thank you too to the wonderful Claire Harries Photography for assisting on the day, driving me around her ‘hood and jumping in last minute to help with some beautiful guest pics!

I first met gorgeous Danette when she was a bridesmaid at Alweri and Konrad’s colourful wedding at Beloftebos back in 2012 :-D So now with Alweri as one of her bridesmaids it really felt like a bit of a happy reunion! Danette and Joe are so perfectly matched, both with the same ready smiles, open hearts and generous spirits, which was such a theme for the speeches!! I can’t tell you what a total delight it was to photograph this special day… It was my first wedding at Nooitgedacht and Kraak Wedding and Event Co-ordination spun their usual creative magic with Danette and Joe’s tables under the stars… Enjoy the pics!

On a gorgeous April day in the beautiful Wellington Moedergemeente church Aletia and Thomas made their wedding vows in front of their family and friends and one enthusiastic passing pigeon ;-) Their day was filled with such well wishes, so many hugs, the most beautiful pastel coloured roses and kilometers of bunting, hand made by Aletia with love… Three kilometers of bunting!! :-D Here are the photos of their happy day at Au de Hex and Kronenburg, put together with the help of Marilise from Polkadot Weddings. Thank you Aletia and Thomas, SO much for sharing this time with me!! Assisted by the lovely Illyan Cloete.

Hot hot hot hot hot!!! I’ve pretty much never shot a wedding in such heat -reports put high temps up at around 40o :-o But the wonderful Lisa and her new hubby Steve took it all in their stride even having just come over from the UK and wearing a beautifully layered, beaded wedding gown and three piece suit! The Round House overlooking Camps Bay was the jaw-dropping backdrop to the day and for those guests who were enjoying their first visit to South Africa, even with the heat, it was a phenomenal introduction to the best of Cape Town’s coastline! The brilliant team at Wedding Concepts put together a jewel-bright and sparklingly colourful day for this special couple. Enjoy the photos… Thank you so much to my second shooter extraordinaire Kristi Agier Photography.

Amanda and Willie, along with their family and dearest friends, came down all the way from Gauteng to celebrate their wedding in the heart of the winelands at the lovely Rickety Bridge Wine Farm. You may remember this awesome couple from their Kalk Bay Lovebirds engagement shoot – and as with that shoot, on their big day they were so relaxed and a complete joy to photograph!! Franschhoek really is a special spot and I’ve no doubt Amanda and Willie have carried so many special memories back home with them… Enjoy the photos… Assisted by the fantastic Illyan Cloete.

Once upon a time there was a boy from Norway who fell in love with a girl from Japan, whose Dad was Danish and whose best friend was Russian. They flew out from their home in Singapore to get married by a German minister in the heart of South Africa… The world is a small and beautiful place :-)

The phenomenal team at Wedding Concepts put together the most beautiful day at Grand Dedale in Wellington for Robyn and Fredrik to spend with their family and friends. Enjoy the photos… Assisted by the fabulous Illyan Cloete

Thank you Lara and Etienne, for being SOOO lovely to be around and enjoy this day with – I know it was full to bursting with happy South African memories to take home again :-) Enjoy the photos… Assisted by the lovely Claire Harries

From the first emails and chats it felt like the PERFECT fit with Kate and Chris! Not only did we chat weddings, details and Rockhaven loveliness but also our mutual love of great food! The photos of the rings and shoes in the edible herb garden are my nod to their foodie hearts :-D Chris has turned his brilliant plans into reality and started a food truck in Cape Town for Asian eats and noodles – ooooh!! Go check out whether the Lotus Food Truck will be in your area!

It can’t have been easy fitting the wedding into their lives this past year! They were coming home from Australia, finding new jobs, houses, fitting back in, moving stuff AND planning the big day – not for the feint-hearted!! With the help of special people like Kate’s great friend Fennec of Fox & Co and the amazing team at Rockhaven, they pulled off something wonderful! Hands down the most delightful wedding of 2013! Take a look at the photos… p.s Kate’s ex-ballerina gracefulness is something else… happy sigh…

So the Oxford English Dictionary describes the word ‘epic’ as ‘Heroic or grand in scale or character. Particularly impressive or remarkable’ – that sounds about right for Dan and Daryl’s phenomenal big day!! We got to know each other on their super fun engagement shoot and hit it off from the word go!! These two are so vibrant, fun and full of big ideas, all with their hearts in the right place… Amazing… Their Morgansvlei wedding was superbly styled and put together by the very talented and totally delightful Anneke of Anna H and I had the lovely Claire from Claire Thomson Photography second shooting for the day :-) Many of you will know how much I adore shooting out in the Swartland, as well as my beloved Overberg, and this wedding didn’t disappoint with it’s rolling plains, pink sunset mountains and Cape Dutch farmstead beauty… A wedding for the books… Dan and Daryl, you were such a joy to photograph – thank you, thank you…

Julie-Anne and Andrew’s wedding was a thoroughly Cape Town based affair on a blissfully rain free Saturday in Constantia :-) They were married at the chapel at Andrew’s old school, Bishops College and celebrated with friends, family, champagne, yummy canapes and ice-creams at the super lovely venue of Constantia Glen. Oh, and did I mention there was ice-cream?? Juls and Andrew have a seriously bright future ahead of them with such exciting plans and so much love between the two of them – I’m thrilled to have been there on day No.1!! A big thank you to my brilliant second shooter Kristi Agier for capturing the guys getting ready and the guests arriving at the church, plus so much help on the day as always! Have a peek too at their lovely Cape Town engagement shoot and the hilarious photo booth pics from the wedding!

Lanica and I met a few years back when I photographed our friends Jen and Warren’s wedding and she flew out from the UK for it. So when she emailed me saying  her and Huw were coming out to SA again for their own wedding at the stunning Babylonstoren it felt like a happy reunion! :-D Their big day was just PERFECT! With just a handful of their most special people to witness such an emotional ceremony. Lanica had secretly organised a local choir to sing “Diamonds on the soles of her shoes” to walk her down the aisle, which was one of Huw’s late Dad’s favourite songs – there pretty much wasn’t a dry eye in the house!! Phew, a bit of a misted up camera too!! Lanica and Huw, I know you guys had the most amazing day and I really hope these photos capture even a fraction of the love, laughs and joy for you.

The whole day was run beautifully by Anna from Anna Marcelle Weddings and assisting was the ever wonderful Illyan Cloete :-)

Based on the initial given that Astrid is HILARIOUS, you have to know how much fun this wedding was to shoot!! The heart of the Swartland, windmills, Darren’s live rendition of The Lumineers ‘Ho Hey’, paintball bruises, lots of scotch, homemade salted caramel ice-cream cones (woah!!), a little bit of black lace, shiny beetles, rivers of happy tears, wheat fields at sunset and a true passion between these two that I see stretching out for decades to come… the foundations for an incredible day!! Angie from My Pretty Vintage ran the whole show in such style! I’m thinking of raising the idea of a biennial vow renewal for these two!! ;-) If you missed it have a peek at their Lovebirds engagements shoot, full of salty kisses! P.s Astrid and Darren – thanks for the Zanzibar postcard!! Wish island honeymoons needed documenting too ;-) Thank you Nicole Rich for fabulous assisting!

So I’ve heard the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain ;-) but I can tell you for a fact that it also falls on wedding venues in the Wellington area! Leanne and Brandon were stoic in the face of persistent drizzle and decided to get married outside anyway! LOVE it!! They were also stoic in the face of chilly temps, DJs gone AWOL and fording freezing rivers for that perfect shot ;-D I love this couple!!!! Nothing some heaters, a boom box and taking your shoes off can’t fix!! Leanne and Brandon, I hope you love your photos and can laugh off all the trifles that couldn’t stand in the way of your wonderful day… Time to start your happy life together Mr and Mrs Fairweather – what a perfect surname for the day :-) Assisted by the fabulous Illyan Cloete at the gorgeous Kleinevalleij Estate.
