My wedding was in winter so shoots like these hold a special significance for me :-) I got married in the Drakensberg mountains on a crisp July morning and the light was calm and low and all the colours were greys, browns and silvers in the fields and on the hills. I love this shoot we did with Fleur le Cordeur for Wedding Inspirations magazine so much!! What a beautiful vision she had for mixing so many elements and textures – natural and glamourous… I hope you enjoy the photos. Stunning installations, furniture, lighting and decor from Something Different Concepts and Shows. Breath-taking make-up and hair from the one and only talent Yolande du Toit. Swoon-worthy dresses and boas from Kobus Dippenaar Atelier and perfectly exquisite stationery from the awesome White Kite Studio. Our models were beautiful Valery Zelenyuk and Silke Viljoen and we shot at 401 Rozendal and they were such a pleasure to work with! Behind the scenes pics were taken by Chantall Marshall Photography. We were also lucky enough to have the shoot featured on the beautiful Pretty Blog :-)

So we just HAVE to share some snowy goodness from yesterday’s styled shoot with Fleur le Cordeur for Wedding Inspirations magazine :-D If nature is not obliging with some natural snow-filled weather (indoors!) then we must make our own…

So many lovely people on this shoot! Fleur le Cordeur, Yolande du Toit, Something Different, White Kite Studio, 401 Rozendal, Chantall Marshall PhotographyKobus Dippenaar Atelier with models Valery Zelenyuk and Silke Bosman. Many thanks to Aoife de Klerk for the vid clip :-)

…Or watch honey-bees busy around the hive of a summer forenoon,Or animals feeding in the fields,Or birds, or the wonderfulness of insects in the air,Or the wonderfulness of the sundown, Or of stars shining so quiet and bright, Or the exquisite delicate thin curve of the new moon in spring; These with the rest, one and all, are to me miracles, The whole referring, yet each distinct and in its place. To me every hour of the light and dark is a miracle…

The sheer gobsmacking talent of so many creatives down here in the Western Cape never ceases to amaze and inspire me! The team for this shoot was chock full of people I adore and admire – Heike from Fleur le Cordeur, once again blowing us away with the scope of her limitless imagination, appreciation of the interplay between beauty and texture, as well as her fundamental playfulness ; Yolande du Toit wowing us again on superb hair and make-up for our stunning models Karen Engelbrecht and Alana Jass; Valery Zelenyuk from Agape Wedding and Event Design with her endless energy, flawless taste and willingness to lug an unbelievable amount of heavy furniture up the vertiginous sides of Paarl Rock; plus the talented team at Secret Diary for our beautiful African graphic stationery, M Patisserie for the perfectly hand crafted, gold dusted cake and beautiful dresses from Stefania Morland and Eve’s Bridal wear. Sjo!!

We started talking about this shoot over a year ago now and the main elements we really wanted to play with were textures and graphic patterns against a muted background with a real African backbone to all the designs. A way to showcase a different side to Africa than we usually see. It was a lot about a nude colour palette, dried and foraged foliage and flowers with the tiniest touch of gold glamour to make the monotones sparkles. I am so proud of this shoot and am always alway always grateful to work alongside people who just love to create… and they do it so beautifully…

The shoot was originally featured by The Pretty Blog and we couldn’t have been more delighted to have such an uplifting and South African platform to share the work.

You can tell just how much these two lovebirds were missing their beloved dogs by how happy they were to see this local lab on his daily beach walk :-D They came down from Uganda to celebrate their gorgeous wedding at Palmiet Valley Estate in Paarl and we managed to sneak in a little engagement shoot the week before :-) Grainne even managed to organise a beauuuuutiful Fleur le Cordeur flower crown for our shoot! Cream peonies and baby pink orchids *swoon*… Grainne and Etienne are such a perfect match – a ying and a yang – and it was really fantastic to spend the day with them on this wild bit of the Cape coastline :-D Enjoy the pics – more from their lovely big day with Wedding Concepts coming soon! P.s I have not photoshopped how turquoise that water was!! Huge thanks to Claire Harries Photography for helping trudge bags and reflectors (and keeping spirits up) through miles of sand and wind!

Sand and flowers made me think of that William Blake poem, especially as this gorgeous gaelic beauty’s name is Grainne… To see the world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower… :-) More photos from Grainne and Etienne’s Noordhoek eshoot with this beautiful Fleur le Cordeur flower crown coming soon…

There are so many reasons why I loved this shoot, not least because it meant that I got to hang out with my super creative friend Heike from Fleur le Cordeur for the whole day :-D In terms of the actual shooting it really was a joy – from the textures of the house, to the gorgeous models and jewellery… and don’t forget ALL THAT BEAUTIFUL YELLOW!! There’s so much talent down here in the Western Cape, I feel ridiculously privileged to capture a fraction of it in camera…

Heike and I chatted for ages about this shoot and we really wanted to push the bridal concept a little more ‘out there’ – a little less traditional and a lot more playful… These are a few of my favourites from the day… Enjoy!

One last sneak peek from our African Moon inspired shoot with Fleur le Cordeur and Agape Weddings… How beautiful is our model Alana in this dress from Stefania Morland??

Heeeere’s a little sneak peek from yesterday’s inspiration shoot. An incredible neck piece from the inimitably awesome creative force Heike from Fleur le Cordeur. Our model here was the breath taking Karen Engelbrecht.

So it was a very exciting start to the week for our little team who put this wintery styled shoot together! The photos were featured on the Strictly Weddings blog, an American wedding website with a huge following internationally and on Facebook alone the pics have had a dizzying amount of interaction – up to 14,000 likes and counting!! You could imagine that blogs like these may become guarded and jaded, and even a bit prickly to deal with, but I just wanted to say that they could not have been more delightful throughout all the emails and toing and froing. For me that says a lot!

So back to the team that made these creative visions a reality – Heike, my gorgeous friend and co-dreamer-upper of flowery photo fests, from Fleur le Cordeur, left us all with our jaws on the floor, as per usual!! Sparkling colours, layered tactile textures, brave and dramatic collations of perfect blooms – it’s all in day’s work for her ;-) Talented Valery, the creative and organised force behind Agape Wedding and Event Design brought all the elements together, from dresses and decor, to running the behind the scenes action and lunch for the starving team ;-) Kate from Something Different created the most stunning lighting pieces and installations to underpin the sets. The ever-lovely Yolande du Toit managed to turn our exquisite model Silke Viljoen into an even more show stopping beauty! The details and dresses on this shoot were truly amazing and were lucky enough to have a gorgeous cake creation from Roxanne Floquet, stationery from the talented team at Secret Diary Designs, dresses from Stefania Morland and Jacques la Grange Couture and the stunning venue of Ashanti in Paarl.

So now it’s just left to show you my favourite images from the day…

Soooo we spent the whole day yesterday messing around some abandoned ruins shooting floral creations from the unbelievably talented and inspiring Heike of Fleur le Cordeur. She’s just a great gal to spend the day with!!! :-D Here’s a tiny peek featuring the gorgeous Nadia… Incredible make-up and hair from Yolande du Toit and a stunning two piece bridal outfit from Janita Toerien.

I don’t think I was quite prepared for the level of gorgeousness from yesterday’s styled shoot set up by the incalculably talented Heike from Fleur le Cordeur and Valery from Agape Weddings
